Will Ferrell And Zac Efron To Lead New Amazon MGM Comedy From Nicholas Stoller

After their recent collaboration on the wedding comedy, You’re Cordially Invited, which is now streaming on Prime Video, director Nicholas Stoller and star Will Ferrell are re-teaming for another bout of laughs and shenanigans, reports Variety.
Critics and audience scores have been good for the comedy, which co-stars Reese Witherspoon, and it seems the streamer wants to stay in the Ferrell/Stoller business and, to add the already tasty mix, they have tapped Zac Efron to star alongside the Elf star in the film. Stoller will write and direct again.,
The film will follow a young convict (Efron) fresh out of prison who takes a reality TV courtroom hostage, blaming the megalomaniac TV judge (Ferrell) for a past ruling that the convict feels ruined his life. Efron had previously worked with Amazon MGM with last year’s comedy Ricky Stanicky, opposite John Cena.
Efron recently wrapped filmed on Jody Hill’s latest film, Famous, which sees the star Efron play “both an overzealous fan, Lance Dunkquist, and a Hollywood heartthrob, James Jansen. The film is based on the novel by bestselling author Blake Crouch and is adapted for the screen by Chad Hodge, who also adapted Crouch’s Wayward Pines trilogy into a series.”
Before Invited, Ferrell starred alongside best friend Harper Steele in the acclaimed documentary Will & Harper, now streaming on Netflix.
