We love a good Asian crime Thriller and Artsploitation Films, with 815 Pictures, have gotten their hands on Beasts Clawing at Straws. 8 hard luck strangers in a sauna blinded by greed and a Luis Vuitton bag stuffed with cash, what do you do?!

Hailing from South Korea and is the directorial feature debut for Kim Yong-hoo. Who has worked on various crews for The Adventures Of Rocky And Bullwinkle, plus one of our favourite Korean heist films The Thieves (2013).

The film is described as a fast-paced noirish thriller centring on a bag of money and the various lowlifes desperate to get their hands on it. The film world premiered at the 2020 Rotterdam Film Festival where it won the festival’s Special Jury Award.

A Luis Vuitton bag stuffed full of cash sends a group of hard-luck lowlifes on a desperate chase for the fortune in this pitch-black neo-noir crime thriller. Fish-mongering gangsters, a greasy cop, an “innocent” gym cleaner, a prostitute, her wife beater of a husband, her ruthless boss and her clueless boyfriend all violently scheme to get their hands on elusive the bag. First time director Kim Yong-hoon’s witty thriller is a beautifully constructed puzzle that with each double-cross, the pieces fall into place. Starring Jung Woo-sung from Asura: City of Madness and Jeon Do-yeon, award winner in Cannes for her lead role in Secret Sunshine.

The cast includes Jeon Do-yeon, Jung Woo-sung, Bae Sung-woo , Yun Yuh-jung, Jung Man-sik, Jin Gyeong, Shin Hyun-been, Kim Jun-han, Jung Ga-ram, Park Ji-hwan, Heo Dong-won.

We don’t have any word on who and when Beasts Clawing At Strawswill get a UK release.The film is set for a cinema release in select indie cinemas from November. With An DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital release coming in January 2021.
