Documentary marks Sadie Frost’s directorial feature debut about 1960’s Fashion Icon Mary Quant

Soho Distribution have released the official UK Trailer and Poster for documentary Quant.
The film is the directorial feature debut for actress turned filmmaker Sadie Frost. The film paying homage and celebrating the incredible life-story of the trailblazing fashion designer Dame Mary Quant.
Unless you are involved or interest in fashion, Mary Quant may not be a name you might know. She’s inspirational, especially in the 1960’s as the woman who created the Mini-skirt and Hot Pants. Two fashion pieces that revolutionised what young women wear today. It’s not all about what she created the film dives into her impact on fashion worldwide.
The film pairs archive footage with dramatized scenes, featuring Camilla Rutherford as Quant with striking creativity. Original interviews with Quant family and titans of the fashion and beauty industry provide a rich texture for exploring the creative, personal and professional life of a beloved cultural icon.
One of the most influential artists of the 20th Century worldwide, Mary Quant was at the vanguard of the style revolution of the 60s and 70s, leading the charge away from convention and conservatism through the championing of ground-breaking designs including the miniskirt and hot pants, plus an ingeniously creative partnership with hair stylist, Vidal Sassoon. Quant’s fresh designs and irreverent style shaped a generation and heralded the arrival of the ‘swinging sixties’. Her impact on the business of fashion and contemporary design can still be felt today across the globe.
Quant will be released in UK and Irish cinemas from 29th October. The film will make it’s premiere at BFI London Film Festival on Saturday 9th October (sold out) , tickets are available for the Sunday preview.
