Very few people live up to their ‘legend’ status especially , very few of them deserve the status of the ‘Greatest’. One of them is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known to the world as Pelé. Later this month the Brazilian football legend finally gets the Documentary he deserves, today Netflix tease us with Pelé with the official Trailer.

The new Netflix documentary, chronicles the life of the Brazilian football player, Edson Arantes do Nascimento – better known as Pelé. The documentary looks back at the extraordinary period when Pelé, the only player to win three World Cup titles, went from a young superstar in 1958 to a national hero, amidst a radical and turbulent era in Brazilian history.

The film is directed by Scottish filmmaker Kevin Macdonald who is exceptionally busy in Lockdown with 3 films on the go. Youtube’s Life In A Day and soon to be released The Mauritanian starring Jodie Foster and this one. If you are a fan of football we all have our favourite footballer we wish or even when they played. I have many would have seen in their golden years, Pele is one of them!

This documentary feature tells the story of iconic footballer Pelé, his quest for perfection and the mythical status he attained. As well as unprecedented interview access to Pelé, the film includes astounding archive footage and interviews with legendary former team-mates including Zagallo, Jairzinho and Rivellino. The story looks back at the extraordinary 12-year period in which Pelé, the only man to win three World Cup titles, went from young superstar in 1958 to national hero in 1970; a radical yet turbulent era in Brazil’s history. PELÉ is directed by David Tryhorn and Ben Nicholas, produced by Pitch Productions and executive produced by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald.

Pelé launches on Netflix globally from 23rd February.
