Watch The Slick UK Trailer For Korean Actioner The Killer

The Killer coming to UK on Digital from27th March then Blu-ray, DVD in April

Hollywood and Keanu Reeves may be having all the fun with action thrillers and John Wick, but South Korea has someone who can challenge that crown. Later this month, Trinity CineAsia will release ‘The Killer,’ and today we get a look at the slick UK trailer.

The action thriller sees The Swordsman director Choi Jae-hoon and that film’s protagonist Jang Hyuk reteaming. It follows a legendary hitman who attempts to take on a legitimate job but finds himself dragged back into his old profession when his wife’s young companion is kidnapped by gangsters. Can these gangsters handle the legend that is Ui-gang?

South Korea has mastered the action thriller sub-genre over the years with perfect examples such as The Man From Nowhere, A Bittersweet Life, and Oldboy. Based on the quotes, The Killer might just be the newest entry to that great list!

Ui-gang (Jang Hyuk, The Swordman) is a legendary hitman who has decided to retire from the business and pursue legitimate work. When his wife takes a trip, she issues a request, for Ui-gang to look after her travel companion’s 17-year old daughter, Yoon-ji (K-pop star Lee Seo-young aka Anne from GWSN). Ui-gang reluctantly agrees, but when the girl with a wild streak falls afoul of gangsters, Yoon-ji finds herself kidnapped and in a situation more dangerous than she ever imagined. However, while the girl is in over her head, her captors will also find themselves with more than they can handle when Ui-gang begins tearing the city apart to get her back.

From acclaimed director Choi Jae-hoon (The Swordman) and adapted from a popular novel, The Killer is a cool, stylish and fast-paced thriller with incredible action scenes which further cements the elite reputation of South Korean cinema.

The Killer  will be released on Digital 27th March and Blu-ray, DVD 17th April in the UK and Ireland.
