The big question is “What really Happened?”, what even am I talking about? What really happened which lead to events of John Carpenter’s now legendary sci-fi horror classic THE THING. To get you into the mood for Monday’s release Universal Pictures UK have sent us over an great little exclusive featurette they want us to share with The People’s Movies readers only. In the original film the American team at the isolated Antarctic research site  try figure out why the Norwegians wanted the dog, so in the new version (with the same name) which is a prologue to the 1982 film we do meet those Scandinavians. Some you may think the Norwegians  will be Americans pretending to be  Norwegians, right? Wrong! In this featurette we see how Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. film takes a authentic approach by casting as you’ll see some of Norway’s top actors even one who is regarded as the Norwegian Brad Pitt!

At an Antarctica research site, a team of Norwegian and American scientists intercept a mysterious signal and soon make a startling discovery in the frozen wastelands. They unearth an ancient alien craft that’s been buried for 100,000 years together with a startling life form that’s also in deep freeze. Back at the base, a decision is taken to take a sample from the frozen creature which leads to a confrontation between quarantine-cautious graduate student Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and lead scientist Dr. Sander Halvorson. Whilst the team are celebrating their life-changing find, the frozen organism starts to thaw with devastating consequences for not just the team but all of mankind. Realising too late that it is still alive, the team make the horrifying discovery that ‘The Thing’ is consuming and replicating the team .
