Timur Bekmambetov’s Profile Unveils U.S Trailer

After a year of touring the Film Festival circuit that started away back at Berlin in 2018, Timur Bekmambetov’s Profile finally getting released. Today Focus Features release the official U.S Trailer will the infiltrator be seduced before she exposes?

Many films get delayed largely thanks to reshoots or distribution problems, this one due to the sensitivity and political content of the film.  A cautionary tale that jumps into the dangers of the internet recruitment for terrorism, and how easy the exposer becomes recruited.

The film stars Valene Kane and Shazad Latif. Kane is an undercover British journalist determined to expose the propaganda and recruitment channels of the so-called Islamic State, via social media only to be sucked in by her recruiter (Latif).

The film uses the ‘screenlife’ technology, a film shot entirely on the computer screen. Films like Host, Unfriended,  Searching are examples of recent films. With much of our to the outside world is through using online  during lockdown you wonder why there has n’t been more films. PROFILE follows an undercover British journalist in her quest to bait and expose a terrorist recruiter through social media, while trying not to be sucked in by her recruiter and lured into becoming a militant extremist herself. The unconventional thriller plays out entirely on a computer screen in the Screenlife format, pioneered by Bekmambetov.

The film also stars Christine Adams, Morgan Watkins, Amir Rahimzadeh, and Emma Cater.

Profile doesn’t have a UK or Irish release date just yet (or confirmed distributor). The film will be released in the U.S next month on 14th May.
