‘This Is Lighthouse!’ Watch UK Trailer For The Vanishing Starring Gerard Butler

Gerard Butler may be known more for his ‘This Is Sparta’ chant in 300 or saving the president of the United States in the ‘Fallen’ films. Now Scottish actor finds himself back home living a lighthouse in The Vanishing.
Today Lionsgate Films UK has released the First UK Trailer as Butler alongside Peter Mullan, Connor Swindells, as fellow lighthouse Keepers. The trio stumbles on something they can’t keep plunging them into a paranoia battle for survival.
This trailer was meant to be released a few days ago as The Keepers the films original name. No reason for the change apart from now it’s in line with the other countries. Why change it to The Vanishing, hard to say possibly to be more in line with the true story the film is inspired by. One of Scotland’s unsolved mysteries when 3 lighthousekeepers went missing on the Flannan Isles in 1900.
When I noticed the change of title I automatically thought of George Sluizer’s 1988 horror thriller with the same name. The 2019 version may share the psychological side of its 1988 namesake, looking very different from Butler’s nonsense action flicks. Certainly looks a more serious deeper part for the actor which make this film a little more rewarding…
Set on an uninhabited island 20 miles from the rugged Scottish coast, Keepers tells the story of three lighthouse keepers who stumble on something that isn’t theirs to keep. What follows is an isolation and paranoia-fed battle for survival as the men venture down a path of destruction.
The film also stars Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and directed by Kristoffer Nyholm (The Killing).
The Vanishing will be released in the UK and Ireland sometime 2019, date still to be confirmed by Lionsgate Films.
