The Sound of Tomorrowland

Although the highly anticipated Tomorrowland: A World Beyond opened to some mixed reviews last week, many critics have praised the visually striking and innovative storytelling of Brad Bird’s latest outing. The film tells the story of former boy-genius Frank (George Clooney), and teen science-prodigy Casey (Britt Robertson) who together, embark on a mission to explore a mysterious place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland”.
With a large portion of the film being set in an otherworldly place, the challenge was on for the creative team to present something new and ‘out of this world’ without overshadowing the events on-screen. Soundworks Collection have created a fascinating 8 minute profile that highlights some of this process with Sound Designer Kyrsten Mate and Re-recording Mixer Gary Rydstrom from Skywalker Sound where they discuss their work on Tomorrowland, giving us an insight into an area of filmmaking that is rarely explored.
Tomorrowland stars George Clooney, Britt Robertson, and Hugh Laurie and was released on 22nd May. You can read our review here and view the trailer below.
