Thank Your Alien Invaders In Rupert Wyatt’s Captive State First Trailer

Let Us Give Thanks to your Alien Overlords Earthlings or in Rupert Wyatt’s Captive State, Today you take it back! After directing the sci-fi reboot/prequel Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, the English filmmaker returns to Dystopian sci-fi invasion.
Today we get the first look at the Teaser Trailer which plays a lot like a propaganda TV Promo by the Invaders. Don’t expect to see them just yet as this is only a tease (nor do we know if we will see them). The State Of The Union is ‘Strong’, Unemployment is the lowest in history, poverty eradicated, Crime is non-existent. It sounds like this film will have a lot of political allegories (or like a Conservative party political broadcast).
Certainly, Wyatt is going for a more grounded approach, something with emotion rather than an all-out major invasion. The trailer shows the main characters and you’ll see they all come from all walks of life. It looks like the working class once again suffering from the Elites, but have they become the collaborators? It has a big District 9 vibe but the oppressed are the humans.
Rupert Wyatt has co-written the film with his wife Erica Beeney (The Battle of Shaker Heights). Regards the film as an ‘original story’, which will be a mean feat if he pulls it off. Be exciting to see what he does, especially as this was made with a $25 million budget!
Set in a Chicago neighbourhood nearly a decade after an occupation by an extra-terrestrial force, Captive State explores the lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents.
The film stars John Goodman, Vera Farmiga, Ashton Sanders, Jonathan Majors, and Colson Baker.
Captive State is expected to arrive in UK and Irish Cinemas from the first Quarter of 2019. No date confirmed however, the USA release date seems to be 29th March 2019, so expect a similar release date.
