Superman: WB Top Executives Say James Gunn’s Remake Is “Great” And He “Really Understood The Assignment”

Anticipation is slowly building towards July 11th when James Gunn’s long-awaited take on Superman is released in cinemas – and it seems Warne Bros’ top brass is very happy with the outcome.
Pam Abdy and Michael De Luca, the CEO and Chairperson of Warner Bros respectively, talked about the film on the SmartLess podcast to talk about Superman and their reactions and feelings after seeing it for the first time.
De Luca praised James Gunn for his work on the movie and said, “We’ve seen an early cut of ‘Superman,’ and I don’t want to bury the lede, there’s a lot of marketing about to roll out ahead of its release, but [Gunn] really understood the assignment… His heart’s in the right place, his aim is true, and we’re really excited about their new version of DC.”
Abdy added that she thought Gunn is “great.”
De Luca further described Gunn as a “unique” director and stated, “I used to chase James as a producer when he did ‘Slither’ and started with his low-budget movies. He’s really unique, and I think DC is in great hands with the two of them.”
Written and directed by Gunn, the film stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Mercad, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Skyler Gisondo, Pruitt Taylor Vance, Neva Howell, Sara Sampaio, and Wendell Pierce. It will be part of DC Universe’s first phase, Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
Just two months or so to go until Superman is released into the world, with Gunn himself stating that the film’s full trailer is not too far away. You can tickle those tastebuds with the sneak peek of the film released for Superman Day below if you haven’t already…
Superman opens in cinemas on July 11th.
