Sunday Short Theatre – David (2021)
Will Ferrell stars in Funny short from Silicon Valley star Zach Woods

It’s good to talk, especially when it comes to mental health. This never ending Covid-19 pandemic has no end in sight, like a tsunami of people now with different mental illness. It may not be any laughing matter, however when Will Ferrell is in this week’s Sunday Short Theatre choice David it’s going to be funny as well as dramatic.
This week’s film comes from fellow actor Zach Woods(Silicon Valley, The Office) in his directorial debut. The 12 minute short film debuted at Sundance Film Festival and actually made the list for the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival. Will Ferrell stars a therapist who confronts his own son’s frustrations whilst attempting to help a severely depressed man (William Jackson Harper) who might be about to have suicidal thoughts.
As I mentioned before, Mental Health and suicide are no laughing matter. This film will a few uneasy laughs, it is all about the balance and this film seems to just get it right. Making you laugh but also with warm cosy heart with a big smile, something many haven’t been able to do for a long time. This is something having Ferrell in your film does, we’re less than a week from Christmas, Ferrell is Buddy the elf!
If you feel you maybe suffering from mental illness, please reach out to someone. It’s good to talk, you deserve to smile, laugh be you again…
A severely depressed man (Harper) reaches out for an emergency therapy session. He’s not the only one who needs help.
The film also stars Fred Hechinger, Corey Jantzen, and Sebastian Vale.
