Sundance London To Return For 2016 With New Venue

It’s in it’s 2015 hiatus but today Sundance Film Festival have officially announced they are returning to London in 2016 with a new central location.
After 3 years at it’s Cineworld cinema at O2 centre near Greenwich a venue which fans and critics have complained about it’s lack of atmosphere plus a feel of isolated due to location. But now fans of the festival can rejoice they will be enjoying the best of Sundance 2016 at the soon to be completed Picturehouse Central in the heart of the city’s West End on Shaftsbury Avenue.
The news was announced today which also cemented the future of Sundance Hong Kong Festival which is due to take Place in September (17th-27th)to continue it’s 30-year legacy of discovering new films and filmmakers. President and Founder of Sundance Institute, Robert Redford said, “We’ve nurtured filmmakers around the globe for many years now and these experiences have brought a rich perspective to all we do. Exploring international opportunities for the diverse landscape of American independent storytelling is an exciting proposition, and something to which we are equally committed.”
John Cooper, Director of the Sundance Film Festival, said, “After three hugely enjoyable years in London, we look forward to returning next year and reconnecting with London film enthusiasts. The Sundance Film Festival: London, like our other events in Los Angeles and Hong Kong, allows us to extend the tremendous energy and excitement of our Festival. We are excited to build a 2016 program for London that is fuelled by a spirit of discovery and creativity.”
Sundance London has introduce UK film fans to such films as Fruitvale Station, Obvious Child and since the London Festival’s creation a new festival NextFest has started in Los Angeles. No official dates have been announced for Sundance London 2016 with the new venue Picturehouse Central due to open Summer 2015
