Something Ominous Lurks In The Essex Serpent First Trailer

Apple TV  have debuted the first official Trailer for limited series  The Essex Serpent.

The six part Apple Original  series stars Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston with Clio Barnard (Ali & Ava) directing. If you enjoy period based drama with elements of horror this limited series might just be for you.

The series is based on the best selling novel  written by Sarah Perry . The year is 1893 and London widower Clora (Danes) moves to the Essex coast after her domineering husband dies. She is there to investigate the mythical serpent that’s meant to lurk in the area. She forms an unlikely friendship with the village vicar (Hiddleston), when tragedy strikes the villagers point fingers at Clora.

This series looks like it will delve into faith and obsession. Complex stuff and the setting in 19th Century is a perfect time to look at religion which influenced our morals more than nowadays. Looks gloomy…

Set in Victorian England featuring a star studded cast led by Claire Danes, Tom Hiddleston, Frank Dillane, Clémence Poésy and Hayley Squires, The Essex Serpent follows London widow Cora Seaborne (Danes) who moves to Essex to investigate reports of a mythical serpent. She forms an unlikely bond with the village vicar (Hiddleston), but when tragedy strikes, locals accuse her of attracting the creature.

The rest of the cast also includes Frank Dillane, Clémence Poésy, Hayley Squires, Dixie Egerickx, Jamael Westman, and Michael Jibson.

The Essex Serpent will premiere globally on Apple TV+ from 13th May, with the first two episodes.
