We do love a song or two in the festive season like Will Ferrell and Ryan ReynoldsSpirited. From next month we’ll have another, Scrooge: A Christmas Carol, both offering  a fresh look at the classic Christmas story.

Netflix have released the official Trailer for Scrooge: A Christmas Carol as things get animated. Stephen Donnelly direct, the animated story of Charles Dickens‘ ageless legend who is reborn in this supernatural, time-travelling, musical adaptation of the definitive Christmas story.

The trailer opens with a reminder of how horrible Scrooge was to his fellow human being. The biggest challenge is to present a new version that hasn’t been seen before. Especially when A Christmas Carol story has been told many times before, director Stephen Donnelly promises it will engage us. The unexpected musical choices, time travelling and psychedelic tone tick the boxes this will be different.

Produced by Timeless Films in association with Axis Studios and directed by Stephen Donnelly, Charles Dickens’ ageless legend is reborn in this supernatural, time-travelling, musical adaptation of the definitive Christmas story. With his very soul on the line, Scrooge has but one Christmas Eve left to face his past and build a better future. Featuring re-imagined songs from the legendary and two-time Academy Award® winner Leslie Bricusse OBE, Scrooge: A Christmas Carol is one for a new generation to sing.

The film stars that lend their  voices are  Luke Evans as Scrooge, Olivia Colman as Past. They are ed by Jessie Buckley as Isabel Fezziwig, Johnny Flynn as Bob Cratchit. Fra Fee (Harry Huffam), Giles Terera (Tom Jenkins), Trevor Dion Nicholas (Present), James Cosmo (Mr Fezziwig), and Jonathan Pryce (Jacob Marley).

Scrooge: A Christmas Carol will premiere on Netflix on 2nd December.
