We’ve known for a while Black Widow movie is one of the Phase 4 MCU films in the works. Cate Shortland recently started production and those lucky to be in Hall H were treated to first footage.

The production might only been in works for a few weeks, they where introduced to audience. The stand alone film includes David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O.T. Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz. Shortland said to the audience “In this film we get to understand her past and put the pieces of herself together and come out a whole person,”. The cast kept things brief leaving the footage to do all the talking.

One thing we must state, is this won’t be a prequel. A film that takes place just after the events of Captain America: Civil War. Scarlett Johansson said herself…“I don’t think I could have played this iteration of Natasha 10 years ago, it would have been a very different film,”

What will Black Widow story be based on? What we know is it will be based around what happened in Budapest, Hungary. She’s tracking down another assassin (played by Pugh) and the pair embark in some fisticuffs. This was the scene the audience were treated too and suggests the characters all play a big part of Natasha Romanoff’s history. Potentially all one time part of the same training academy, as Pugh’s character easily matched our heroine skill by skill.

Those lucky to have seen the promo, say the film is taking a Jason Bourne type direction. Has Natasha become a target of the academy as she took a different direction?

The film’s villain will be played by Stranger Things regular David Harbour. He will be known as the Red Guardian, who we believe will be the Avengers nemesis Taskmaster. He has the ability to match the skills of his opponents with his photographic reflexes to defeat them!

Black Widow movie is expected to be released in May 2020.
