Next week Cannes Film Festival will kick-off 72nd Programme with Jim Jarmusch‘s The Dead Don’t Die. Ahead of the World Premiere, Universal Pictures has released the film’s UK Trailer.

He’s dabbled in Punk documentaries, Westerns, the Art World, even ancient Vampires Now he takes a bite out of George Romero with a Zombie Comedy.

Starring Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Chloë Sevigny as cops of a small sleepy town who feel things are not right. They were right when the dead rise from the graves and feast on the living. Forcing them to fight for survival.

Jarmusch films have been hit and miss with myself, very popular with Film Students. His style and brand of humour has always been a bit more dry witted but this feels very different. A big fun element and giving Murray a platform to be funny is up my street! Is it me this feel like Wes Anderson directing Dawn Of The Dead?

In the sleepy small town of Centerville, something is not quite right. The moon hangs large and low in the sky, the hours of daylight are becoming unpredictable, and animals are beginning to exhibit unusual behaviors. No one quite knows why. News reports are scary and scientists are concerned. But no one foresees the strangest and most dangerous repercussion that will soon start plaguing Centerville: The Dead Don’t Die — they rise from their graves and savagely attack and feast on the living, and the citizens of the town must battle for their survival.

The Dead Don’t Die is Jim Jarmusch’s thirteenth feature film and stands as not just a humorous and sometimes scary subversion of the genre (with a nod to George Romero’s seminal film, Night of the Living Dead) but also a tribute to cinema itself.

As ever Jim Jarmusch films have impressive casts, a mixture of regulars and new blood. This one includes , Tilda Swinton, Steve Buscemi, Danny Glover, Caleb Landry Jones, Rosie Perez, Iggy Pop, Sara Driver, RZA, Selena Gomez, Carol Kane and Tom Waits.

The Dead Don’t Die will be released in UK cinemas on the 12th July 2019 (14th June in the USA).
