Ryan Kiera Armstrong The New Slayer In Buffy Reboot Alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar

Ryan Kiera Armstrong is the new slayer in Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot

The Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot is gathering steam at Hulu with the new show having found its new slayer this week!

Firestarter and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew star Ryan Kiera Armstrong has landed the lead role in the new series and will star opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar, who returns as the titular slayer for the plot order for the streamer.  Armstrong will play the new slayer in the untitled “Buffyverse” show, which Gellar is also executive producer.

Chloé Zhao – Oscar Winning director of Nomadland and Marvel’s The Eternals – is directing the pilot, which has been written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, though no info on what the show will be about or look like has yet been disclosed. 20th Television and Searchlight TV are behind the pilot.

The character played by Armstrong is described in casting materials as an introverted high-school student and Gellar told THR that her audition blew her away, saying:

“From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side… To have that kind of emotional intelligence, and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room”

You can watch Gellar break the news to Armstrong in the video below from her Instagram:

“I’m so honored, thank you for trusting me,” elated Armstrong said through tears when Gellar welcomed her to new Sunnydale. She was then ed by her father, Canadian actor-producer Dean Armstrong.

“We are so overjoyed to have found this generation’s slayer in Ryan Kiera Armstrong, she absolutely blew us away — there is no question in our mind that she is the chosen one,” added writers Lilla and Nora Zuckerman

No dates yet on when Buffy The Vampire Slayer and her new partner will come to screens.
