Rocks UK Trailer Highlights The Elegance Of Teenage Friendship

If you enjoy the social realism of Ken Loach films, you’re gonna dig Sarah Gavron‘s Rocks. Since the film’s world premiere at 2019 Toronto Film Festival, we’ve been only hearing great things about it. This coming April the film will arrive in UK Cinemas and today Altitude Films have released the UK Trailer.

The film is a coming of age tale of a teenage girl who suddenly finds herself struggling to look after her younger siblings. As she tackles the challenges of adulthood, authorities circle in when they realise she is on her own.

There’s no fancy events or people rediscovering the love for something they’ve forgotten about. Rocks shows the journey of a young person forced to grow up quickly. A film that will celebrate the beauty of teenage friendship whilst not hiding from the harsh realities of life.

Looks a raw, elegant film with some amazing acting performances from a first time cast. EE Baftas, diverse? Sarah Gavron‘s film should be nominated and then BAFTAs can call themselves diverse.

The film follows teenager Rocks (Bukky Bakray) who fears that she and her little brother Emmanuel (D’angelou Osei Kissiedu) will be forced apart if anyone finds out they are living alone. With the help of her friends, she evades the authorities and navigates the most defining days of her life. A film about the joy, resilience and spirit of girlhood.

The film stars Bukky Bakray, Kosar Ali, Shaneigha-Monik Greyson, Ruby Stokes, Tawheda Begum, Anastasia Dymitrow and Afi Okaidja.
