Robert Pattinson as Batman 2 news

The highly anticipated sequel to Matt Reeves’ comic book hit The Batman has faced several delays in recent years. The movie is now looking at a late 2027 release, a whopping five-and-a-half years since the first instalment was released.

There have been many rumours as to why production on the project has taken so long, including personal issues related to director Matt Reeves. However, elements out of the filmmaker’s control, such as the WGA strikes, were the main reason The Batman: Part II was delayed in the first place, with subsequent problems being added on with each ing year.

Robert Pattinson, who stars in Bong Joon-Ho’s new movie Mickey 17, was recently asked about The Batman sequel’s progress during an interview promoting the sci-fi dark comedy.

When asked if he’ll begin working on the “Batman” sequel soon. He responded with the following: “I f—ing hope so. I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be f—ing old Batman by the sequel.”

Filming for Matt Reeves‘ sequel is due to start at the end of the year. If this goes ahead as planned, Pattinson will be 39 by the time production kicks off. Christian Bale was only 37 when he filmed The Dark Knight Rises, meaning Pattinson will be older than him by the time they supposedly begin shooting.

The Batman Part II is currently scheduled to release in cinemas on October 1st, 2027.
