Prano Bailey-Bond To Direct ‘Things We Lost In The Fire’?

Censor (Niamh Algar)

Next month we’ll finally get a chance to watch Prano Bailey-Bond’s critically acclaimed horror Censor when it arrives in UK cinemas. Like any film that comes with great buzz cinephiles are eager to find out what are they doing next?

It seems her next project will be the movie adaptation of Mariana Enriquez’s book, Things We Lost in the Fire. It will be made with RT Features with Bailey-Bond teaming up with her Censor co-writer Anthony Fletcher to tackle this one.

The film will be based on the Argentinian author’s short story. Chronicling how a terrorized female community resorts to ever more extreme actions in response to male violence. It will bring together several elements including horror, violence and feminism. It will be a modern day approach to violence and a vision of taking back control, as well as those drastic measures that they have to take.

This is an incredibly provocative and relevant story with a ferocious energy at its heart. It’s an honor to adapt this story for the screen.” commented Bailey-Bond.

Things We Lost In The Fire will be produced by The Lighthouse producers Rodrigo Teixeira and Lourenço Sant’Anna . Teixeira commented “We’ve controlled this property for some time now and the fact that Prano reached out to us about it means a lot. She’s incredibly talented, and ‘Censor’ is a hell of a first feature.”

Censor will be released in the UK and Ireland from 20th August by Vertigo Releasing.
