We’ve been waiting a long time for this and after several posts of images and poster the Power Rangers first trailer is GO! Over the weekend New York City held it’s annual Comic-Con , Lionsgate Films promised to deliver the first footage from 2017 reboot. Did they disappoint? Hell no! This morning the UK version of the first trailer has arrived and here it is…

Every popular kid’s tv show that becomes a feature movie needs an upgrade and Saban’s Power Rangers and with filming wrapped months ago Lionsgate have finally found the right moment. The promo is all focused the outsiders who become our heroes in spandex but if you’re looking for an appearance of the Zords in action you might just have to wait a little longer.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove and the world is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.

What this trailer does intensify the excitement amongst cinephiles have been waiting like cats on a girdle. Bryan Cranston quoted the new movie is on par with the likes of Christopher Nolan The Dark Knight Trilogy. Director Dean Israelite’s previous movie Project Almanac has a lot of inspiration in the movie which also resembles a lot of Josh Trank’s Chronicle too. The gritty serious tone , dry-witted humour certainly shows they are desperate to lose the cheesy camp nostalgia that many will this by.

We can understand why no footage was shown back in the summer at San Diego Comic-Con as Marvel and DC movies would have overshadowed this . The wait was long but was it worth the wait?

Power Rangers is set for a March 2017 (possibly 24th) UK&Irish Release date with Bryan Cranston as the mighty Zordon and Elizabeth Banks as super-powered villain Rita Repulsa. The rangers themselves are made up from singer Becky G as Yellow Ranger Trini, Ludi Lin as Black Ranger Zack, Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger Jason, Naomi Scott as Pink Ranger Kimberly, and RJ Cyler as Blue Ranger Billy.
