Pierce Brosnan Weighs In On Amazon Bond Saga

Pierce Brosnan has weighed in after creative control of the Bond franchise was ed on to Amazon.
He told The Daily Telegraph the role had to go to a British actor and that handing over the franchise to Amazon was the right decision for producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
Brosnan, who starred as James Bond from 1995 to 2002, said: “In this world that is moving so fast now, at the speed of light, [the takeover] does come with a certain lament. I thought it was coming for some time I guess, but I think it was the right decision for Barbara and Michael.
“It takes great courage for them to let go. I hope that [Amazon] handles the work and the character with dignity and imagination and respect. History has been ed on and I’m very proud to have been part of the history and the legacy of Bond and the movies I made with Barbara and Michael.”
He added: “That we moved the needle, that we brought it back to life. It had been dormant [for] six years and GoldenEye was such a success that it continued and went from strength to strength… You know, everything changes, everything falls apart, and I wish them well.”
Brosnan played Bond in four films, including the Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day.
Former Bond stars Daniel Craig and Timothy Dalton have also said their part on the decision. Craig ed on his love and respect for the producers, while Dalton said he was “very surprised and shocked” at their departure.
