Paul Giamatti Is A ‘Grumpfest’ is The Holdover First Trailer

Paul Giamatti reunites with Sideways director Alexander Payne in The Holdovers. Today Universal Pictures have released the Official UK Trailer which shows our leading man is a proper ‘Grumpfest’.
Next to Giamatti the film also stars Dominic Sessa, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Carrie Preston. This time the wine will probably be on the Christmas dinner table, with Giamatti as Mr Hunam. A no-nonsense teacher of a well to do New England Prep school who must stay on campus during Christmas. To babysit a number of students who are unable to return home who find him a bit on the grumpy side. Over time one trouble making student and the school’s head cook form an unlikely bond.
If we go by Payne’s previous films, next to the slice of life story, they’ll be plenty of dark humour too. The film does also have a heart-warming tone, wouldn’t expect anything less from this filmmaker.
From acclaimed director Alexander Payne, The Holdovers follows a curmudgeonly instructor (Paul Giamatti) at a New England prep school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually he forms an unlikely bond with one of them — a damaged, brainy troublemaker (newcomer Dominic Sessa) — and with the school’s head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam (Da’Vine Joy Randolph).
The Holdovers doesn’t have a release date announced for UK and Irish cinemas. For now it’s ‘Coming Soon‘, Stateside the film has a Autumn release possible we’ll have similar.
