Paranoia Runs Wild In Neil Marshall’s The Reckoning UK Trailer

It’s been a long time since Neill Marshall directed the cult horrors Dog Soldiers and The Descent. A lot has happened for the British filmmaker with a certain epic fantasy series (The Game Of Thrones) to more recently the disappointing Hellboy reboot. After a short festival running which started with Fantasia Fest last year, Marshall heads back to period Horror with The Reckoning.

Today Vertigo Releasing have released the film’s UK Trailer and paranoia runs wild as the ‘great plague’ decimates the land.

we go back to 1600 England, the world is ravaged by the plague. Grace a young woman (Kirk) is accused being a witch and scapegoat for all the troubles of the world. As she’s found guilty by the country’s most ruthless with hunter she must face her inner demons, most of all the devil himself…

Set against the backdrop of the Great Plague and subsequent witch-hunts against women, Grace Haverstock (Charlotte Kirk) must grapple with the tragic untimely death of her husband Joseph (Joe Anderson) in a society completely consumed by fear and death. Because she rejects her landlord Squire Pendleton’s (Steven Waddington) advances, she is falsely accused of being a witch and thrown in jail for a crime she didn’t commit. Grace must endure physical persecution at the hands of England’s most ruthless witch-hunter Judge Moorcroft (Sean Pertwee) and face her own inner demons as the Devil himself starts to work his way into her mind.

The film stars Sean Pertwee, Joe Anderson, Steven Waddington and Charlotte Kirk.

The Reckoning will be released in UK and Irish cinemas as well as digital platforms from 16th April.
