Oscar Issacs Is Haunted By Ghosts In The Card Counter UK Trailer

He’s playing the hand he was dealt, In Paul Schrader’s The Card Counter Oscar Issacs is man on revenge. Today Universal Pictures release a new second UK Trailer, he’s also haunted by the ghosts of his past.
What better time to release the new promo with it’s lead actor’s latest film Dune is on cinemas. This one may not be a ‘blockbuster’, it showcases why Schrader is still one of the best when it comes to storytelling.
The film marks the follow up to his 2018 drama First Reformed starring Ethan Hawke. Once again he has a character plagued by the ghosts of their past with Issacs a former military interrogator on a path of revenge. Becoming a professional gambler, travelling from casino to casino to find the two men who did him wrong.
When it comes to the story itself, this is the man who wrote Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Last Temptation of Christ you got to have some trust he’ll deliver. The trailer showcases the trademark slick style we expect from the legendary writer. This looks an intriguing but intense crime noir we cannot wait to see!
Redemption is the long game in Paul Schrader’s THE CARD COUNTER. Told with Schrader’s trademark cinematic intensity, the revenge thriller tells the story of an ex-military interrogator turned gambler haunted by the ghosts of his past decisions, and features riveting performances from stars Oscar Isaac, Tiffany Haddish, Tye Sheridan and Willem Dafoe.
The film also stars Tiffany Haddish, Tye Sheridan, Willem Dafoe, Ekaterina Baker, Billy Slaughter, and Joel Michaely.
The Card Counter will be release din UK and Irish cinemas from 5th November.
