Nicolas Cage To Star As Dracula In Universal’s Renfield?

There’s nothing stopping him and that is why we love Nicolas Cage. Looking back at those films has starred in very many are forgettable or ones that down the line could be considered ‘Cult’ one day. Could Cage be about to play the most famous vampire ever Dracula?

His recent slew of films are ones that you would file under ‘indie’, according to Hollywood Reporter he’s heading back to a big studio film. The site are saying he’s about dawn the fangs once again and play the iconic Dracula in Universal Pictures Renfield.

The film’s titular character will be played by Nicholas Hoult, Dracula’s henchman, R.M. Renfield. In Bram Stoker‘s 1897 novel is locked up as a patent in a lunatic asylum. He was deluded thinking he was ‘immortal’ like his master and even drank blood. A troubled human who’ll sink to Dracula’s feet and do what his master wants or even tells him to eat like insects or rats.

The Tomorrow War/ The Lego Batman Movie director Chris McKay with Ryan Ridley (Rick and Morty)writing the script, Based on an original story outline written by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. There is no word at the moment if this film will stick to original period or go for a contemporary setting. The present day setting seems to be the favourable option.

40 years in film for Nicolas Cage and we can easily say not everyone of his choices questionable. He has been involved performances that has seen him nominated as well as winning ones. Such as Adaptation and Leaving Las Vegas, the latter making him one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. That status was further helped all thanks to The Rock, Con-Air, Face/Off, and National Treasure. We mustn’t forget one of earlier roles with Moonstruck and off course his last time as a vampire in Vampire’s Kiss.

His last major studio role was on 2011 with Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The last 10 years the indies have brought him great publicity but sadly not always of the positive kind with the critics with everything from Pig . He will be about to appear as himself The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, as himself. Navigating the world of indies and studio films whilst been a CIA informant!
