New Poster For British Indie Ali & Ava Released

Tonight the 65th BFI London Film Festival kicks-off tonight and we hope to bring you as best of coverage possible at The Peoples Movies. One of the many films playing at this year’s festival is Clio Barnard‘s  British drama Ali & Ava starring Adeel Akhtar, Claire Rushbrook in an unlikely romance between two Bradford residents.

Our writer Freda Cooper was at the Film’s North American Premiere at Toronto Film Festival, saying “Barnard gives us gentleness, tenderness and kindness instead of physical ion, treating their love in a down to earth but nonetheless respectful way.”

Ahead of that premiere next week, Altitude Films have released a New Poster for the film.

There’s no official trailer released from Altitude Films, however for BFI London Film Festival a teaser has been released, watch it below…

Sparks fly after ALI and AVA meet through their shared affection for Sofia, the child of Ali’s tenants whom Ava teaches. Ali finds comfort in Ava’s warmth and kindness while Ava finds Ali’s complexity and humour irresistible. As the pair begin to form a deep connection, they have to find a way to keep their newfound ion from being overshadowed by the stresses and struggles of their separate lives and histories.

Enveloped in music, humour and emotion, ALI & AVA is a heartfelt contemporary love story written and directed by BAFTA-nominated Clio Barnard (The Arbor, The Selfish Giant).

The film stars Adeel Akhtar, Claire Rushbrook, Ellora Torchia, Shaun Thomas, Natalie Gavin.

Ali & Ava will be released in UK and Irish cinemas from 22nd February 2022. Before then it will make it’s UK Premiere at BFI London Film Festival on 13th October and 14th October [Buy Tickets]. The film is also one of the Festivals touring films and will play at Home (Manchester), Showroom Cinema (Sheffield), The Queens Film Theatre (Belfast), Filmhouse (Edinburgh), Pictureville Cinema (Bradford), Watershed (Bristol), Glasgow Film Theatre, Warwick Art Centre, Tyneside Cinema (Newcastle) all on 14th October. On 17th October at Chapter (Cardiff)
