Brad Pitt stars as a former driver who returns to the race track alongside Damson Idris as his teammate on APXGP, a fictional team. Co-stars include Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.
“You can talk about speed but we wanted to make audiences feel it,” says director Joseph Kosinski in the opening moments of the featurette. Having previously pushed the boundaries of filmmaking for Top Gun: Maverick, Kosinski directs and produces this with his sights set even higher.
Much of F1 was filmed during the last racing season. Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, who is also a producer on the film, added on set: “Today, I feel like a kid seeing Brad at work. The cast is incredible. My heart was racing. The F1 movie is as authentic a racing movie has ever been.”
Producers are Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Hamilton. Bruckheimer Films, Plan B Entertainment and Dawn Apollo Films are producing the project for Apple Original Films.
The film is set to be released in the UK, Ireland on 27th June .
