Netflix Release Julian Fellowes’ The English Game Trailer

1966 was the year when, for many in the UK outside of England, hell began. This was the year of England’s famous World Cup victory. 54 years on we still live in its shadow despite their failure to win it again. Later this month Julian Fellowes take us back to football’s early days with The English Game.
The Downton Abbey creator new show is based on the true origins of the ‘beautiful game’. The six part Netflix Original series will chart the class divide to the sport that united everyone.

The English Game. The six-part drama charts the origins of football and how those involved in its creation reached across the class divide to establish the game as the world’s most popular sport. The series is written and executive produced by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes and produced by 42 (Watership Down, Traitors).
The series will star Edward Holcroft, Kevin Guthrie, Charlotte Hope, Craig Parkinson, James Harkness, Niamh Walsh, Gerard Kearns, Joncie Elmore, Sam Keeley, Daniel Ings, Kate Dickie, Henry Lloyd Hughes, Kate Phillips, Ben Batt, Sylvestra Le Touzel, Harry Michell and Anthony Andrews.
The series is directed by Birgitte Stærmose (The Spanish Princess, Darling) and Tim Fywell (Happy Valley, Grantchester) and produced by Rhonda Smith (Fresh Meat, Traitors).
Executive producers include Julian Fellowes as well as Rory Aitken, Eleanor Moran and Ben Pugh for 42 and Eddie Charlton. Ben Vanstone is a Co-Executive Producer.
The English Game will be released on Netflix 20th March.
