Netflix Announce Release Date For Young Wallander

After last week’s Teaser Trailer, today they announce the first season for Young Wallander. The series will launch on the channel in September.

The streaming giants have also revealed the main cast too which includes  Adam PĂ„lsson (Kurt Wallander), Richard Dillane (Superintendent Hemberg), Leanne Best (Frida Rask), Ellise Chappell (Mona), Yasen Atour (Reza), Charles Mnene (Bash), Jacob Collins-Levy (Karl-Axel Munck), Alan Emrys (Gustav Munck), Kiza Deen (Mariam).

Here in the UK we will be used to Kenneth Branagh as the iconic Swedish cop, which were shown on BBC.  Wallander was already an established character on Swedish Television by this point. Still based on the books of Henning Mankell, this series promises to showcase the origins of the character and what would make him the legendary character we love today.

Based on the best selling Kurt Wallander novels by Henning Mankell, a modern reimagining of the legendary detective, Kurt Wallander, who must navigate the increasingly violent environment of present-day Sweden. When he is unable to save a teenager from a gruesome attack, Wallander must learn to cope with his guilt in order to solve the crime. The story focuses on the formative experiences – professional and personal – faced by Kurt as a recently graduated police officer in his early twenties.

The English-language drama series is told over six serialized episodes and features both British and Swedish cast.

Young Wallander will launch on Netflix on 3rd September 2020.
