Nicolas Cage Is Famed NFL Coach John Madden In Biopic With Christian Bale
Amazon MGM has unveiled the first look at their biopic Madden, which you can view below. (via The Hollywood Reporter who shared the first look.)
In the film, Oscar Winner Nicolas Cage plays the NFL legend with fellow Oscar Winner Christian Bale as partner Al Davis, who was the owner and de-facto General Manager of the Oakland Raiders. John Mulaney, Kathryn Hahn (as Madden’s wife, Virginia), and Sienna Miller as (Davis’ wife Carol) also star.
The film follows Madden’s remarkable journey—from his Super Bowl-winning partnership with Al Davis and the Raiders, to creating Madden NFL, and becoming one of the most iconic voices in football history. Madden became just as well-known for the string of popular modern Electronic Arts NFL video games, “Madden,” which became extremely memorable due to the announcer lending his voice as the legendary Raiders coach was immortalized in the ever-expanding gaming and sports communities.
The biopic will track Madden’s “journey from humble beginnings to coaching the Oakland Raiders to the Super Bowl in 1976 and later finding further success on television, video games, and becoming a reliable pitchman for a wealth of rs.”“
Directed by David O. Russell, who reteams with Bale after the two collaborated on American Hustle, The Fighter, and Amsterdam, the script is also by Russell from an early draft by Cambron Clark.
No release date for the film as yet, with filming now underway.
