Kristen Stewart's Best Roles

Kristen Stewart is known for her versatility and diversity on screen, choosing roles that showcase her as one of the best actresses working today. She has starred in some of the best female-centric stories, including Personal Shopper, Certain Women and Still Alice. Now, Stewart takes on the role of Norah in Underwater, a survival film directed by William Eubank (The Signal).

Underwater (2020)

When disaster strikes more than six miles below the ocean’s surface at an underwater laboratory, a crew of survivors realise that their only hope is to walk across the seabed to reach the main part of the facility. Stewart’s character is Norah, a mechanical engineer who helps her team of researchers get back to safety, but they soon begin to uncover the mysterious and deadly creatures that lurk below…

Underwater also stars T.J. Miller (HBO’s Silicon Valley), Vincent Cassel (Black Swan, La Haine), John Gallagher Jr. (10 Cloverfield Lane), Jessica Henwick (Netflix’s Iron First), Mamoudou Athie (Netflix’s The Get Down) and Gunner Wright (J. Edgar).

Personal Shopper (2016)

Stewart’s second film with Oliver Assayas (the first being Clouds of Sils Maria) puts her front and centre of this eerie ghost drama. In Personal Shopper, she plays Maureen, the titular character who refuses to leave Paris as she yearns to communicate with her dead twin brother. The film is left with an open-ending and is one of Stewart’s best performances to date, showing her versatility as an actor.

Certain Women (2016)

Co-starring with Michelle Williams and Laura Dern, Stewart plays one of three women whose lives intersect in a small town in America. Certain Women follows the stories of three characters, who are blazing trials in their own way, but Stewart stands out as a young lawyer who, while teaching a night class, finds a connection with one of her students. Written and directed by Kelly Reichardt (Wendy and Lucy), the film showcases the power of women with three diverse and original stories.

Still Alice (2014)

Julianne Moore won an Oscar for her portrayal of Alice Howland, a linguistics professor diagnosed with early Alzheimer’s. In Still Alice, Stewart plays her troubled and confused daughter Lydia, who struggles to come to with her mum’s condition. While the rest of her family are unable to deal with Alice’s condition, it’s Stewart who nails her role as the daughter who becomes the most ive one in the family.
