Korean Sci-Fi The Silent Sea Starring Doona Bae Gets First Trailer

After the global success of Squid Game, what better time for Netflix to introduce next hopefully big Korean series. Netflix Asia have released the teaser trailer for sci-fi mystery drama series The Silent Sea, where has everyone went to?

The 8 part series cast is led by Doona Bae (Sense8, Cloud Atlas) along with Gong Yoo (Train To Busan, Age Of Shadows). The series is set in the near future which has been devasted thanks to desertification of our planet. With Food and Water resources low, forces humanity into new unchartered territories including parts of the moo. Bae portrays the astrobiologist Doctor Song Ji-an who s the team, determined to uncover the truth behind an accident at the now-abandoned Balhae Base research station on the moon.

Matching this new series with Squid Game was a bit unfair as they are completely different shows including genres are different. What that series does is highlight the diverse quality shows Korea are unearthing is unbelievable, In the same way Parasite did for the films. This series comes with a big slice of mystery leaving the door opened to many things, from aliens to something sinister?!

Set in a future Earth that has undergone desertification, The Silent Sea is the story of the of a special team sent to secure a mysterious sample from an abandoned research facility on the moon.

The series also stars Lee Joon, Kim Sun-young, Lee Mu-saeng, and Lee Sung-wook. The series is directed by Choi Hang-yong in her debut feature who before this directed a the short the series is based on.

The Silent Sea has a 24th December launch date in Korea and various Asian countries. The UK and U.S dates say ‘Coming Soon’, however if you know Netflix there’s a good chance of the same date release.
