They say a thousand words paint a picture, for Boris Johnson probably a million words to describe Boris’ time as Prime Minister. Michael Winterbottom‘s 6 part limited drama series, This England his handling of the Covid-19 comes under the spotlight. Sky have sent us the first (teaser) Trailer which teases a troubled PM attempting show leadership in time of crisis

Originally entitled ‘ This Sceptred Isle‘, This England is a dramatized of the behind the scenes of the first Covid-19 lockdown. As Boris Johnson (unrecognisable Kenneth Branagh)grapples with balancing his personal, political life with Covid-19, Brexit.

The rest of the cast includes Ophelia Lovibond as Carrie Symonds. Andrew Buchan as Matt Hancock,  Tim Goodman, Alec Nicholls, James Corrigan, and Simon Paisley Day as Dominic Cummings.

Co-written and directed by Michael Winterbottom and starring BAFTA® and Academy Award®-winner Kenneth Branagh. This England, based on Boris Johnson’s tumultuous first months as Prime Minister, traces the impact on the country of the first wave of the Coronavirus pandemic. The drama takes us inside the halls of power, as Johnson (Branagh) grapples with Covid-19, Brexit, and a controversial personal and political life. The events in government are interwoven with stories from around the country, from the experts and scientists racing against time to understand the virus; the doctors, nurses and care-home workers on the frontline working tirelessly and heroically to contain and overcome it; and ordinary people whose lives were thrown into turmoil.

This England is produced by Michael Winterbottom’s Revolution Films and Richard Brown’s enger. The series will air on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW later this year.
