Judy Greer To Play Jamie Lee Curtis Daughter In Halloween Reboot?

Recently when Jamie Lee Curtis was officially confirmed she was onboard the Halloween Blumhouse reboot with Danny McBride/David Gordon Green, it gave the project a monstrous boost. Even the man behind the original movie is onboard it only on an executive producer basis. The new version is rumoured to begin production very soon and it seems they might be about to announce a new cast member.
According to Deadline actress Judy Greer is in negotiations to the cast as Karen Strode the daughter of Curtis character Laurie Strode. This won’t be the first time Karen Strode has appeared in the franchise with Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, and Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. Danielle Harris (who appeared in the lacklustre Rob Zombie reboots) then J.C Brady played the character with Josh Hartnett playing Laurie’s son in H20.
There is one little conundrum if they go by Curtis and Greer’s actual age (58 & 42) that would mean Laurie was 16 when Karen was born. If anything they will change the ages by a few years as since this project was announced, no one has actually called it a ‘reboot’ officially. Which leaves the door opened to play around with Michael Myers mythology, though McBride did say they will focus on the first two movies…
“It’s gonna continue the story of Michael Myers in a really grounded way. And for our mythology, we’re focusing mainly on the first two movies and what that sets up and then where the story can go from there…Green and I are definitely going to [do] a straight-up horror. Halloween has always been one of my favourite movies of all time. There’s a simplicity and an efficiency to that first one that I think allows the movies just to be scary as hell. And so Green and I, our approach is to get back to that.” [source:/Film]
Judy Greer is a fantastic versatile actress who at times has been criminally underused, finding herself in smaller roles in sometimes big movies. Including Tomorrowland, Jurassic World, War For The Planet Of The Apes, Ant-Man (and the sequel too), hopefully, this one she’ll get a bigger role.
Halloween is set for an October 2018 release date.
