Two Trailers For Transcendence Transcend Onto The ‘Net [updated]

Last weekend we got a glimpse at life after Batman for Christopher Nolan when the first trailer for Interstellar landed tonight its the turn of Nolan’s master cinematographer Wally Pfister. This afternoon we get our first look at Pfister’s directorial debut in the first trailer for Transcendence as we meet Johnny Depp that rise of the machines is coming !
Depp is playing Dr Will Caster a scientist attempting to push the boundaries in Artificial Intelligence and create most powerful computer in the world. When things get closer to reality he becomes target of anti-tech terrorists.
No pirate hats or Native American Headgear For Depp but millions of bitmaps made up with ones and zeros , Skynet anyone? Is this the birth of the Terminator? Now that would be intriguing! Like Interstellar , Transcendence they both seem to have Inception type plot layered plotline that looks simple in print but must be seen as a movie to fully appreciate its finer qualities.
Transcendence will transcend into UK&Irish cinemas from 18th April 2014 with Morgan Freeman, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, and Clifton Collins Jr.
Synopsis
Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can…but if they should. Their worst fears are realized as Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.
[update 20th December ]
Just as we’re about to call it a day a second trailer as landed online. Like the first trailer no footage from the film is revealed but a voiceover from Morgan Freeman, ‘What If?…’ The question we get asked is What if our next stage of evolution is not of human nature? This is talk of a singularity, until we get a proper trailer with footage can we expect a few more similar type of trailers leaving us asking what is Transcendence all about?
