John Lithgow Evil ‘Puppet Master’ In The Rule of Jenny Pen UK Trailer

Old man with a creepy doll in The Rule Of Jenny Pen

Geoffrey Rush?

This comes from New Zealand filmmaker James Ashcroft no stranger to the horror genre. He directed Coming Home in the Dark and his new film winning him Best Director and actor Rush Best actor award at several film festivals. This looks very creepy, unsettling which highlights even old men can be monsters.

The Rule Of Jenny Pen finds us in an retirement home which we meet arrogant Stefan Mortensen (Rush). A judge who suffered a near fatal stroke and finds himself terrorized by resident Dave Crealy (Lithgow). Dave might be seen as a ‘gentle giant’, he torments the residents with a doll and secretly playing the The Rule Of Jenny Pen game.

The film has played several festivals including Sitges and Fantastic Fest. A festival favourite and soon to be one of horror fans.

Arrogant Judge Stefan Mortensen (Rush) suffers a near-fatal stroke, leaving him partially paralyzed and confined to a retirement home. Resistant to the staff and distant from his friendly roommate, Mortensen soon clashes with seemingly gentle resident Dave Crealy (Lithgow) who secretly terrorizes the home with a sadistic game called “The Rule of Jenny Pen” while wielding his dementia doll as an instrument of cruelty. What begins as childish torment quickly escalates into far more sinister and disturbing incidents. When Mortensen’s pleas to the staff go unanswered, he takes it upon himself to put an end to Crealy’s reign of terror.

The Rule Of Jenny Pen will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on 14th March. In the U.S IFC Films/Shudder will release the film on 7th March.
