Henry Cavill Highlander Film On Track For Production In September

Henry Cavill update on Highlander reboot

The Highlander film is still on track to begin production in September this year, says director Chad Stahelski.

Known for the John Wick franchise, Stahelski is currently working on the reboot of Highlander, with Henry Cavill attached to the project.

Stahelski told Deadline: “We’re in active prep right now. We plan to be shooting by mid-September, starting off in London. I hope it’s good.”

He also told Collider last month that, if everything goes to plan, it could have a 2027 or 2028 release date.

Henry Cavill is currently the only actor attached to the reboot, with plot details also remaining under wraps. The director has previously said the film will incorporate elements and characters from both the film franchise and the television series.

Previously being developed at Lionsgate, the project is now being made for Amazon MGM Studios.

Highlander originally released in 1986 starring Christopher Lambert and directed by Russell Mulcahy.

Henry Cavill is known for his role as Superman in Man of Steel (2013) and the wider DC universe, as well as the titular character in The Witcher series on Netflix.
