Who You Gonna Call? (Female) Ghostbusters Meet Them!

After all the gossiping are they aren’t they Paul Feig‘s Ghostbusters remake is starting to take shape and it’s not all about the boys coming back nor their kids, who you gonna call? Female Ghostbusters and the cast has been chosen!
Since last summer when The Heat/Bridesmaids director was announced as the director for the re-boot the idea that cast should be all women has been surfacing before it nearly suffered the sinking feeling of development hell. However once Feig signed on he did quote “A lot of people accused it of being a gimmick. I guess I can see the cynics’ view of it, but for me I just love working with funny women. People said, ‘Why don’t you do a mix?’ I’m just more interested in the idea of lady Ghostbusters. It’s the way my brain works. I want ours to be scarier than the original, to be quite honest. Katie Dipold and I are so focused on wanting to do scary comedy. We don’t want to hold back.”
Most recently rumours that Melissa McCarthy would be ing as a Ghostbuster now seem to be true as Feig has now tweeted the faces of his team. Kristen Wiig(Bridesmaids), Leslie Jones, Katie MacKinnon (Saturday Night Live) are in final talks to be the other according to Hollywood Reporter. As for the actual plot and set of characters it’s suggesting that they may not follow the origins set in the original film.
HitFix have unveiled potential plot ideas…
Erin Gabler and Abby Bergman are the first two leads, and as the film begins, they are former colleagues. They co-wrote a book about the paranormal together, then went in different directions. Erin works for Columbia, and she’s getting close to tenure, while Abby is more involved in the pursuit of ghosts, with a new partner named Jillian. In a world where there are thirty different “Ghost Hunters” style TV shows out there, the set-up makes sense, and it sets up a tension between serious academic motives and mainstream pop parapsychology.
With filming hoping to start in New York this summer and the main cast in final negotiations will any of the original Ghostbusters teammake cameo roles in the film? The most recent gossip states Sony are keen for Bill Murray to play the part of Ghost debunker Martin Heiss though like the gossip of the 3rd film based around the original cast we have our doubts Mr Murray will be keen in any involvment. Our money is on Dan Ackroyd who has been an er of movie three for a long time (plus was involved in early scripting duties) will appear possibly with Ernie Hudson. What we can say is the proposed released date of Ghostbusters 3 is 22nd July 2016.
