Fisherman’s Friends 2 Starts Principal Photography

Fisherman’s Friends 2 has officially started principal photography in Cornwall, announced today by the film’s distributor Entertainment Film Distributors.
James Purefoy reprises his role of Jim, with other returning cast including Maggie Steed, Dave Johns, Sam Swainsbury, Jade Anouka and David Hayman. However Daniel Mays, Tuppence Middleton and Noel Clarke won’t be returning for the sequel.
A number of new faces coming to Port Isaac including Richard Harrington (Netflix’s Hinterland) as latest band member Morgan; Ramon Tikaram (Pennyworth), Joshua Maguire (Netflix’s Lovesick) and introducing Irish singer-songwriter Imelda May, in her debut acting role.
The sequel continues the journey with the loveable ‘buoy band’, as they navigate the choppy waters of fame, second album syndrome, and performing on the pyramid stage at Glastonbury.

The sequel to the 2019 hit UK comedy charts the next instalment of the Fisherman’s Friends uplifting true-story. Following the unexpected success of the band’s debut album “No Hopers, Jokers and Rogues” we re- them almost a year later, struggling with the pressures, pitfalls and temptations of their newfound fame.
Reuniting the original film’s creative team, Meg Leonard and Nick Moorcroft co-direct from their screenplay co-written with Piers Ashworth, Despite key of the original film not returning they have hope heart- warming true story about the sea-shanty singing group will shine once again.
Producing is James Spring (Fisherman’s Friends, Blithe Spirit) with executive producers Meg Leonard (Fisherman’s Friends, Blithe Spirit) and Nick Moorcroft (Blithe Spirit, Finding Your Feet) for Flying Fish; Deepak Sikka; Helene Theodoly; Nigel Green of Entertainment Film Distributors and James Purefoy.
Writer/Directors Meg Leonard and Nick Moorcroft commented, “We’re thrilled to be back in Cornwall directing the second part of the band’s extraordinary true story. It’s a joy to be reunited with so many of our amazing original cast as well as introducing exciting new characters.”
Entertainment Film Distributors will once again release Fisherman’s Friends 2 in cinemas across the UK, with sales company Legacy on board representing the film’s worldwide rights.
