First Look At Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things Starring Emma Stone

It’s nearly four years since we’ve had a Yorgos Lanthimos film (Nimic). Late Summer that wait will be over with Poor Things starring Emma Stone . Searchlight Pictures have released the first look images of a unrecognisable Stone and Willem Dafoe looking a bit like Abe Lincoln.

This film is based on Alistair Gray‘s 1992 novel of the same name.  An historical sci-fi drama in which Bella Baxter (Stone) a young woman brought back to life thanks to the brilliant scientist Dr.Godwin Baxter (Dafoe).  Baxter protects Bella who is eager to learn the world she is now back in, running away with lawyer Duncan Wedderburn.

The incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

The film also stars Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, Jerrod Carmichael and Christopher Abbot.

Poor Things will be released in the UK, Irish and U.S Cinemas from 8th September.
