First Look At Kristen Stewart In Pablo Larrain’s Spencer

SPENCER (2021)

STX Films have released the first look image of Kristen Stewart as Lady Diana Spencer better known as Princess Diana in Pablo Larrainā€˜s Spencer. The new image comes on the back of the news that film’s Principal photography has begun.

The film focuses on one weekend in the life of Princess Diana, as she spends the Christmas holiday with the royal family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, and decides to leave her marriage to Prince Charles. Filming will take place in and 2022 marks the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death.

Stewart commented on her film – ā€˜SPENCER is a dive inside an emotional imagining of who Diana was at a pivotal turning point in her life. It is a physical assertion of the sum of her parts, which starts with her given name; Spencer. It is a harrowing effort for her to return to herself, as Diana strives to hold onto what the name Spencer means to her.’

December, 1991: The Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage has long since grown cold. Though rumours of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at Sandringham Estate. There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. This year, things will be a whole lot different.

Cast ing Stewart include  Timothy Spall (Mr. Turner, The Party), Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water, Paddington) and Sean Harris (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Prometheus). There is no information on what character each of them will play.

There is official release date for Spencer, it’s expected to arrive Autumn 2021 in the UK. There is hope that it will be coming to the cinemas and by the end of the year hopefully some normality will have returned. Nothing is certain in this Covid-19 pandemic and if we go by recent STX Films, this could get a release on Amazon Prime.
