When firefighter Jake Carson (John Cena) and his team (Keegan-Michael Key & John Leguizamo) rescue three siblings in the path of a wildfire, they quickly realize that no amount of training could have prepared them for their most challenging job yet – babysitting. While trying to locate the children’s parents, the firefighters have their lives, jobs and even their fire station turned upside down and learn that kids – much like fires – are wild and full of surprises.

I can’t help but feel there is definitely an Arnie / Rock versus children theme here when you start to watch this film. Based on a burly fireman (who prefers to be called smokejumpers) Jake Carson rescues 3 children from a burning fire and does not have the time, patience or paternal instincts to babysit these children until social services turn up.
Needless to say, the children do pretty much what they want and turn the firehouse into, well, any normal parent of 3 kids house!

The film holds its own though, it has laugh out loud moments, and chuckles for the whole family to enjoy, it’s come at the right time. A time when we need this silliness and laughter in our homes.

All the characters are amusing, one of our favourite scenes is when the firefighters need to change the little girl’s nappy, this does not go down well as she’s made a ‘boom boom’. Watching them actually fight the smell had our family in fits.

There are some silly moments such as what happens when a little girl gets hold of a staple gun, and how the garage that homes the fire truck gets covered in bubbles and a flying boy holding on to a water hose.

The movie is daft and light-hearted, one that children I think will enjoy a lot more than adults.
