Fear always finds it’s victim, and in the UK trailer for Alejandro Amenábar‘s Regression it will creep into your veins but what does Emma Watson run from? Deep deep down not all as it seems but it’s one psychological ride we’re determined to find out…

In Regression we find ourselves in Minnesota, 1990. Detective Bruce Kenner (Ethan Hawke) investigates the case of young Angela (Emma Watson), who accuses her father, John Gray (David Dencik), of an unspeakable crime. When John unexpectedly and without recollection its guilt, renowned psychologist Dr. Raines (David Thewlis) is brought in to help him relive his memories and what they discover unmasks a horrifying nationwide mystery.

It’s refreshing to see when it comes to horror, there is always filmmakers out there willing to show to be genuinely scared it’s not all about the jump scares. Regression looks like it will play on the atmospheric eerie tone , whilst the film may not be seen as an horror more on the psycho-drama  with suggestions of a satanic link. For an actress who made her debut on the screen on Harry Potter Emma Watson certainly looks to be on a upward transition. This is a a film which looks to be blessed by some powerful performances from a director Amenábar whose previous films Open Your Eyes (which was remade as Vanilla Sky) and The Others his most well known film who may get the credit he’s long overdue.

You can be fear’s ‘victim’ when Regression stalks a UK cinema near you on 9th October.
