Spike Lee’s OLDBOY  casting  possibilities has been dragging out too long with Josh Brolin the only confirmed and has been for a long long time. Late last night if reports are true it looks like he may finally have company in the shape of Martha Marcy May Marlene star Elizabeth Olsen.

Twitch are reporting the young actress who’ll be next on our screens in the remake of  Gustavo Hernandez’s The Silent House (UK May 4th) is in talks to play an unnamed female part. That part can only be the female lead, a part as a waitress who falls in love with Joe (Brolin), after been held captive against his will or even reason why he was held  for 15 years. After been released he goes out on a revenge mission to find out those unanswered questions.

At this point details are very sketchy however going on the evidence of her current film Martha Marcy May Marlene, the dark deep gritty role we know she can cope with perfectly plus due to that film she is one of the most in demand actress at the moment.Rooney Mara and Mia Wasikowska have been offered and rejected the part, however Olsen does have a sizable gap in her schedule.

With so many remakes, reboots in production then stalling Oldboy has had its fair share of problems but compared to the likes of Akira it seems to be a lot more favourable even if the production has been scheduled now for late summer. If this news becomes confirmed the only main part still to be filled will be the villain part  which has had its fair share of names connected from Christian Bale, Colin Firth and Clive Owen. Despite the early reservations about this film been rebooted I am now really keen to see this one been made simply because of the quality of the names been connected to the project, not the cheap names been connected to other Japanese manga books come film about to be Americanized.
