Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly reunite once again for Holmes & Watson a parody of the greatest fictional sleuth, Sherlock Holmes. Sony Pictures has released the First (U.S) Trailer and will be the closest to a Step Brothers sequel, it will be elementary for you to watch!
Not surprisingly the pair will be up against Sherlock Holmes greatest nemesis Professor Moriarty (Ralph Fiennes). Who seems to have a master plan to kill the Queen if our silly duo doesn’t adhere to his demands…
Originally this was meant to be Sacha Baron Cohen as Holmes with Will Ferrell as Doctor Watson. Like many things, they change. Ethan Cohen is directing this one and the last time he directed a comedy was the pathetically poor Get Hard with Kevin Hart. Thankfully Ferrell and Reilly know each other inside out and have a great chemistry. The duo worked perfectly on Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and of course Step Brothers which is now regarded as ‘classic’
As for the exact synopsis for this film, Sony Pictures has kept it short and sweet:
A humorous take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic mysteries featuring Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson.
Holmes & Watson will be released in the U.S on the 21st December, with the UK and Ireland looking set for Boxing Day, 26th December. The film also stars Hugh Laurie (as Mycroft Holmes), Rebecca Hall, Rob Brydon, Lauren Lapkus, and Kelly Macdonald.
