Demise Review

Demise is lovingly rendered like one of those great late 80s to mid 90s erotic thrillers that gave you beautiful people in compromising positions with murderous intentions, this wild indie if nothing else, contains huge entertainment value.
Happy couple Celine (Liz Fenning) and Caleb (Carlo Mendez) are in love and seemingly incredibly enjoying life. However, Caleb is actually in love with his mistress Fiona (Crystal Hernandez) after a continuous affair that they both want to take to the next level.
Unfortunately Celine has the worst day of her natural born life when confirmed as infertile before discovering her husband is a gross liar and philanderer with a baby on the way.
Subsequently a messy divorce is on the agenda, but so is revenge, which when executed by a scorned woman is sure to be treacherous for the guilty spouse.
There’s an odd morality involved in the plot giving some characters flex into their personalities, itting the sex was so good that cheating was inevitable.
Experienced writer, producer and now first time feature director Yara Estrada Lowe, engulfs patterns of intrigue alongside nasty situations highlighting guilt mixed with violence and despair. ing its modest indie flavour, Yara has pounced on as many twists as appropriate without going totally off the deep end of ridiculousness.
Liz Fenning completely leads the way in a freewheeling manner, Celine is on a mission to extract retribution. And, Crystal Hernandez laces her performance from unbridled ion, to fear to determination to confusion, all in one scene at times.
There’s an effective evil doctor played by unknown Richard Rivera, whilst square-jawed-cheater-husband-boyfriend Mendez, is going to please some people for excessive eye-candy moments and dominating smiles, but simply cannot act or convey any emotion convincingly.
An enhancing score by Australian musician Jeff Clayton does create mood, throughout a curio similar in tone to a retro, Demise is a straight to video, amourous thriller.
