Darren Aronfsky To Direct A George Washington Biopic?

From Drug related films to Wrestling then to Ballet Darren Aronofsky’s has covered a lot in his short time as a director, we know his next film will be the epic bible related film Noah. With Aronofsky’s next film probably be his biggest as size you would expect his focus would be 100% on that film, not according to Variety  who say he already has sight’s on his post-Noah project.

According to the industry press paper whilst Noah goes into pre-production, Aronofsky has been taking some time out to shop around his idea called ‘The General’ apparently based America’s first President George Washington. The historical figure within the historical based films that have been and gone he is one of those presidents which hasn’t had a lot of screen time and if this project gets the green light it looks like Aronofsky will take a different approach to the biopic in a “Unforgiven Style”.  As the actual direction of the film we don’t actually know exactly but going off the film’s proposed title ‘The General’ we can assume it will focus on his military career and involvement in American revolution.

It’s understood Paramount have opened negotiations however  even if some deal is sorted, the project could still change hands something that’s not unsual at this stage of a film project. After the $300million plus Black Swan pulled in at the box office, Paramount would be very interested in this project and that commitment could be sorted in the next few weeks as interest seems to be very high. If the deal is done Aronofsky will direct and produce under his Protozoa Pictures banner with Adam Cooper and Bill Collage on writing duties.

If The General isn’t going to be his next project, he does have a few other projects to fall back on ‘Machine Man’ a half man/half robot idea or it could be another sci-fi themed project ‘Human Nature’ or Jackie Kennedy Biopic. There is also the possibility of the Judy Garland project ‘Get Happy’ with Anne Hathaway attached but for now Noah starring Russell Crowe is next in line  with March 2014 release.
