Charlize Theron Goes Toe-To-Toe With Uma Thurman In The Old Guard 2
Netflix has released the first trailer for their sequel, The Old Guard 2, which you can watch below!
The sequel to 2020’s hit fantasy-action epic sees a match-up we never thought we needed but are so delighted we get: Charlize Theron’s Andy going up against a character called Discord, played by Kill Bill star Uma Thurman, who is “the first of the immortals.
“I believe audiences are excited to see Black Mamba and Atomic Blonde go toe to toe,” director Victoria Mahoney teased via Tudum, referencing two of Thurman and Theron’s previous iconic characters. But the showdown is more than just fan service for action-blockbuster lovers — although it is that, too. “For me, in any fight scene, there has to be a worthy opponent,” she said. “Worthy opponents effortlessly elevate fight beats, likewise, worthy opponents effortlessly elevate dramatic beats.”
Meanwhile, Andy and her team – Nile (KiKi Layne), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), Nicky (Luca Marinelli), and James Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) – enlist the help of Tuah (Henry Golding), an old friend who may provide the key to unlocking the secrets behind immortal existence.
Golding said of working with Thurman, “Uma is literally the best. She is everything you want her to be. When we had scenes together, she’d look at me and the fanboy would come out.”
